By now, I think it's safe to say most people in Clayton have heard of Domenic Mazza. After placing second in the RE/MAX World Long Drive Competition last year, he skyrocketed to the top of every pro golfer's radar, proving that he had earned a spot in the big leagues. He even opted to forgo the cash prize, in the name of keeping his amateur status.

But Dom's not really looking to follow in the footsteps of his golf predecessors. Instead, he says he would rather pursue his passion for baseball. And why wouldn't he? I mean, he's even pitched in the Oakland A's Coliseum. How cool is that!

So with all these demanding extracurriculars, how is Domenic able to keep focused and get everything done? Well, Dom says it helps him to keep it all written down. "I have a schedule, and I normally plan out my weeks so that I have time for the things that are the most important to me," he says.

But don't worry, folks, because homework is another one of Domenic's top priorities. In fact, he advises other students to "not take [school] for granted." And when looking at Dom's plans for the future, it's obvious that he has worked hard in school to get where he is.

"I'm looking into Cal, Long Beach, Fullerton, Fresno State, and I was talking with Stanford...", says Domenic, adding that he would like "to go to college and get a better education" in order to ultimately become a professional baseball player.

"I enjoy the feeling I get when I pitch a complete game and get the win for my team," Dom says. "I love being with my friends on the field."

And to get where he is today, Dom has tried to live by a few wise words. He tries to follow the quote, "Live your life to the fullest. In everything you do, try your hardest" in order to reach success. Based on his performance, it looks like he's done pretty well so far.
