Woman Accused Of Hitting Barber With Car Turns Herself In: Police

She was charged this week on suspicion of attempted murder in the incident police said was over her son's haircut.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — A 28-year-old woman accused of becoming so upset over a haircut that she intentionally hit an Antioch barber with her car turned herself into police this week and was scheduled to be appear in court Friday on suspicion of charges including attempted murder, authorities said.

The Antioch Police Department requested the public's help in locating 28-year-old Brentwood resident Ruby Delgadillo following the incident reported Dec. 4 at Delta Barber Shop, 1631 A St.

According to Antioch police, Delgadillo argued with the 63-year-old barber about the haircut he had given her son that afternoon. Police said the argument escalated and Delgadillo got into her Toyota Prius and hit the barber with it, pushing him into and through the glass storefront of the barber shop.

With her son in the car, Delgadillo then drove way, police said.

The barber was rushed to a hospital for treatment of major injuries, police said.

A week later, Delgadillo, accompanied by an attorney, turned herself in to Antioch police.

Thursday, she was charged on suspicion of attempted murder, child abuse and hit-and-run causing serious injury, Contra Costa County prosecutors said.
