Woman Upset Over Son's Haircut, Hits Barber With Car: Police

The 28-year-old East Bay woman is wanted on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, police say.

ANTIOCH, CA — Police in Antioch are seeking a woman accused of being so upset Wednesday over a haircut that she intentionally ran over a barber with her car, a lieutenant with the Antioch Police Department said in a news release.

Officers were sent to Delta Barber Shop, 1631 A St., around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday after dispatchers received numerous calls about the incident.

"It was reported that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian and continued through the glass storefront," Antioch police Lt. Powell Meads said.

The 63-year-old barber — an Antioch resident whose name was not disclosed — suffered major injuries and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

"Based on the victim and witness accounts, this incident started as an argument over a haircut the victim provided to the responsible's child," Meads said. "As the argument continued, the responsible got into her vehicle and intentionally drove at the victim, hitting him and pushing him through the glass storefront."

It is alleged that Delgadillo then drove away from the scene with her son in the car.

As of Wednesday night, police were still searching for Delgadillo and her car, a blue 2006 Toyota Prius, with California license plate number 8LHB387.

Police asked anyone with information about the incident or Delgadillo's whereabouts to call the Antioch Police Department's non-emergency line at 925-778-2441. Information can also be texted to 274637 (CRIMES) using the key word ANTIOCH.
