CONCORD, CA — A 34-year-old woman accused of breaking into a business early Wednesday morning in Concord was taken into custody but not before leading officers on a freeway chase in an RV, according to the Concord Police Department. Officers were dispatched at 4:07 a.m. Wednesday to a business in the 1300 block of Galaxy Way when a silent alarm was triggered, indicating that a burglary was likely in progress, police officials said.

Officers arrived on scene in less than a minute and saw two vehicles driving away, so they initiated "dual pursuits" of both vehicles, police said.

Officers tailed the two vehicles, one of which was an RV, along Commerce Avenue and then across Concord Avenue. But when the suspects drove the wrong way up a southbound on-ramp to state Highway 242, officers terminated the pursuits for safety reasons, police officials said.

A few moments later, however, officers spotted the RV heading south on southbound 242 and started pursuing the vehicle. The freeway chase continued for approximately 8-10 miles until the driver of the RV reportedly once again drove the wrong way, this time up the southbound 242 off-ramp at Solano Way, police said.

With help from citizen callers, police said the RV was again located, this time traveling west on the shoulder of eastbound state Highway 4.

Officers successfully stopped the driver, identified as 34-year-old Jessica Tomsky, and placed her under arrest.

Tomsky was booked into Contra Costa County jail on suspicion of several counts of fleeing police officers, commercial burglary and possession of stolen property, according to police.

"There was stolen property from the commercial burglary she just fled from and stolen property from other commercial burglaries from Concord and other jurisdictions," Concord police officials said.

The Concord Police Department expressed its gratitude to the callers "who took the time to call 911 and update us on the location of the RV."

"Without help from our citizens our job would be much more difficult," Concord police said.
