2. Ex-sailors from Hawaii admit to dealing fentanyl-laced pills on USS Abraham Lincoln (staradvertiser.com) — Federal investigators say a former sailor used a Coronado post office box to receive counterfeit oxycodone pills later sold to shipmates, including on the USS Abraham Lincoln based in San Diego. One sailor died and another overdosed but survived, and the married ex-service members from Hawaii have now pleaded guilty and face lengthy prison sentences when they're sentenced in December.
3. Coronado Schools Foundation 'The Golden Gala' celebrated generous community support for Coronado students (coronadotimes.com) — Coronado Schools Foundation's Golden Gala at the Hotel del Coronado drew local families, businesses, and leaders to raise funds for Coronado public schools, highlighted by a $250,000 gift from the Kato family. Wilmington-area beach among America's most accessible, study says (shelbystar.com) — Coronado earns a spot on a new list of the most accessible U.S. beaches, ranked by how quickly visitors can get from the nearest airport to the sand. The study, focused on easy beach getaways, highlights Coronado alongside destinations like Key West, San Diego, and Miami Beach for its convenient travel time and appeal to out-of-town vacationers.
