Coronado Middle School seeks sponsors for sixth grade camp (coronadotimes.com) — Coronado Middle School is asking local residents and businesses to help sponsor sixth graders so every student can attend November's weeklong Outdoor Education Camp at Camp Cuyamaca. Donations of any amount can be made online or by check delivered to the F Avenue campus, ensuring cost doesn't keep Coronado kids from this hands-on science and nature experience.

2. Ex-sailors from Hawaii admit to dealing fentanyl-laced pills on USS Abraham Lincoln (staradvertiser.com) — Federal investigators say a former sailor used a Coronado post office box to receive counterfeit oxycodone pills later sold to shipmates, including on the USS Abraham Lincoln based in San Diego. One sailor died and another overdosed but survived, and the married ex-service members from Hawaii have now pleaded guilty and face lengthy prison sentences when they're sentenced in December.
