Bottles & Wood's Crowdfunding Campaign Goes Live on Indiegogo

Local San Diego company launches crowdfund to help raise awareness for sustainable goods

Bottles & Wood, a trend-setting eco-design company headquartered in San Diego, launched an Indiegogo campaign this morning to spread awareness to the local community and schools about the beauty of upcycling. The goal is to raise $35,000 in 40 days to help the eco-friendly company host tours of its facility for schools and adults looking to learn about how they can make more environmentally conscious choices.

“San Diego’s landfills are on the verge of reaching capacity, which is one of the main reasons we opened our doors,” said Bottles & Wood CEO, Steve Cherry. “Our beautifully repurposed products keep items such as unwanted bottles, fences and wine barrels out of the ground by giving them a second life. In the process, we’ve also spurred the local economy by adding jobs and we’re working on educating as many people as we can on how they can benefit.”

Since 2014, Bottles & Wood has been partnering up with local wineries, breweries, restaurants and hotels in Southern California to keep beer, wine, liquor and soda bottles as well as wine barrels, fence boards and pallets out of local landfills. These items are then turned into one-of-a-kind, upcycled pieces of jewelry, serving ware and home décor items that are both fashionable and eco-friendly.

“Our vision is to educate and inspire the community, children in particular, to think about a more sustainable future,” continued Cherry. “We’re hoping that by opening our doors and giving guided tours of our factory, visitors will think more carefully about the impact their trash has on the planet and look for alternative ways to get rid of their garbage.”

In exchange for pledging to the project, backers can gain access to a variety of perks. By donating as little as $1, a backer will receive $10 off a $50 online purchase; a pair of Grey Goose Rocks Glasses for $25; a set of four customized Wine Rocks Glasses for $50; a Grey Goose Gift Set including a pair of glasses, champagne flutes, nut dish and bangles for $100; or a Venue Party in Bottles & Wood’s eco-chic San Diego showroom for $500.
