Coronado Police to Hold Citizen Academy

Class size is limited and there is a deadline to apply, according to police.

CORONADO, CA — The Coronado Police Department invited residents this week to apply for its upcoming Citizen Police Academy, a free 8-week course gives an inside look in to the police department.

Participants will learn about various divisions, volunteer opportunities, how to be a better witness to a crime and partake in interactive demonstrations, according to Coronado police.

Academy classes will be held once a week from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesdays from Sept. 14 through Nov. 2. Class size is limited to 15 people and applicants must pass a background screening, police said. The deadline to apply for a spot in the academy is Sept. 1.
