Lee Mather Co., Realtors
Encouraging Greater Education
Nathan Travassos, at 26, is one of the new breed of Realtors helping people buy and sell homes in Coronado and San Diego. A second-generation Realtor, he has, in a very short amount of time, established himself as a major player on the local real estate landscape. Nathan is one of the newest sales associates at Lee Mather Co., Realtors.
Recently Nathan made the commitment to pursue his higher education in the field of real estate. Adding to his already impressive list of talents, accomplishments and sales figures, Nathan has recently received his Accredited Buyer Representative (ABR) designation, as well as his Military Relocation Professional (MRP) certificate. By the end of the year he will have obtained his Certified Residential Specialist degree as well.
“I take my job very seriously, and I want to be the best that I can be,” said Nathan. “The ABR teaches Realtors systems to create a smoother buying experience for their clients. It focuses not only on the purchasing side of the transaction, but helps elevate people skills such as negotiation and communication.
“The MRP certification will help me in assisting my military clients. It gave me an overview of the military lifestyle, i.e., the fact that they receive new orders every 3-5 years. I wanted to get a deeper understanding of the military families in Coronado and San Diego, and this course took me into things like VA financing, eligibility and military pay grades,” he said.
The CRS designation is the most prominent designation a Realtor can receive. It requires a high degree of transactions and sales volume, supported by specific educational courses in real estate.
Nathan expects to receive his CRS by the end of the year. It will give him valuable theory based on knowledge he can then apply to real world situations. “I’ve completed 52% of the sales volume required and have all of my classes scheduled in and around San Diego,” said Nathan.
“It should be noted that only 1% of area Realtors have this designation,” said Debbie Riddle, Managing Broker at LMCo. “Nathan already has incredible marketing tools and people skills. In fact, I’ve never seen anyone prepare so thoroughly and professionally for an open house or client meeting. We are excited to have him as part of our team, and encourage all of our team to extend their knowledge and experience to help better serve the people who need us in this community.”
