Navy to Take New Look at Medal of Honor for Peralta

New evidence is being considered in the case of the Marine, who died in 2004 in Iraq.

Sgt. Rafael Peralta, who was killed in the line of duty in Iraq, may yet receive the Medal of Honor his family believes he deserves.

According to the Marine Corps Times, new videos have surfaced to corroborate earlier claims that Peralta, despite a head wound, eased a grenade under his body to save the lives of other Marines.

Peralta had been denied the Medal of Honor because experts believed the wound would have prevented him from being able to handle the grenade. He was awarded the Navy Cross instead.
