New Realtor On The Block

Nathan Travassos Is New Realtor
At Lee Mather Company

CORONADO – Lee Mather Co., Realtors welcomes Nathan Travassos as their newest sales associate. He joined the firm as an experienced property manager with a goal of becoming a Realtor.

Travassos, 26, came to LMCo in the summer of 2012. “I had lots of experience in property management,” said Travassos, “but the lure and excitement of closing property deals was irresistible.”

The young Realtor has had his Real Estate License since he was 18, but there was a time in his life, growing up in Stockton, California, when he fantasized about being an airline pilot. He looks back now and realizes the one person who influenced him the most, whom he loved the most, was his father – who also happened to be a successful Realtor – once listed in the top 10% of California Realtors.

“The fact that my father and I share the same careers has been great. It’s certainly helped us bond over the years in a special way,” said Nathan. “He’s a very effective Realtor in the Central Valley area of the state. He’s extremely bright, and I have nothing but admiration for him. I’m in this profession now, and my clients benefit from his experience as well as my own. We’re always on the phone talking shop,” he laughed.

Nathan’s focus ranges from residential to investment properties and word is traveling rapidly about his attention to detail and people skills – talents that defy such a young age. At present he has represented clients in Coronado, San Diego, La Mesa, El Cajon and Lakeside. Travassos recently helped Coronado’s new police chief find a new home for his family.

“Nathan has a degree of focus you rarely see in young Realtors. He works very hard for his clients,” said Debbie Riddle, Managing Broker at LMCo. “In fact, I’ve never seen anyone prepare so thoroughly and professionally for an open house.”

Lee Mather, who founded LMCo 60 years ago, had this habit of breaking into conversations and saying, “Say, you’d be great in real estate.” There was something he spotted in them, a spark in their eye, and he was always on the look out for that. Riddle sees that same spark in Travassos.

“At Lee Mather Company we have always welcomed and encouraged the spirit of entrepreneurship in our new agents,” said Mike Herlihy, co-owner and partner at LMCo. “We stand behind all our agents, and we support them as they build their careers. Our philosophy is that we think Real Estate is a great profession, with unlimited opportunity. We encourage people to be part of this profession.”

To back up their belief in Travassos, LMCo sponsored him in a 12-week class called Peak Producers, through Buffini and Co. – a sales training organization. “This was a life-changing course,” said Travassos. “It gave me a glimpse of my potential. The course helped me realize the value of focusing on the relationship with clients and friends. While I was in the course, and still working in property management full time, I was able to assist four buyers in making home purchases.

“I couldn’t have made that transition without the help and support I receive from my Brokers. I’m in a great place to work, and in a very supportive learning environment.”

Travassos says he identifies with his clientele. “They’ve just made a major change in their lives and are jumping in with both feet,” he explained. “I can relate to that. Drawing on my own experiences has allowed me to help people to make these important transitions, and I’ve built many new relationships along the way. Perhaps that’s why this industry appeals to me so much, and to my father. It’s all about the people you meet and help along the way.”

Lee Mather Co., Realtors is Coronado’s oldest Real Estate firm. The family owned and operated business has been here since 1953. To reach Nathan Travassos, call (619) 770-8735 or write Nathan@LeeMather.com, or visit www.leemather.com.
