Political Vets Vie for 39th State Senate Seat, Along With Newcomer

Block and Plescia square off with a CPA/auditor in redrawn district.

Those seeking the 39th State Senate District seat include two veterans of state politics and a CPA/auditor.

Assemblyman Marty Block, a Democrat, has served on the San Diego Community College District Board and the San Diego County Board of Education.

Former Assemblyman George Plescia, a Republican, has served on the state's Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board.

Democrat Patrick L. Marsh's work includes auditing and financial analysis. 

The redrawn district takes in the coast from Solana Beach to Coronado, then sweeps north and east, roughly from where state Route 163 turns into Interstate 15. It also takes in several eastern San Diego neighborhoods.

Patch posed questions to candidates throughout San Diego County, in the guise of fictitious constituents of all ages, professions and backgrounds, to give those seeking the office the chance to address a variety of problems they might be faced with should they win the seat.
