State Awards $31,250 for Veterans Assistance
San Diego County will administer the funding.
The state Department of Veterans Affairs has announced that it will award $31,250 to San Diego County to help provide mental-health education and outreach to locals who have served in the armed forces.
“With so many vets struggling with post-traumatic stress, traumatic brain injury and military sexual trauma, these funds are extremely important to the veterans in those counties,” CalVet Secretary Peter Gravett said.
The outlay was part of a total of $270,000 that the agency earmarked for six California counties.

In May, CalVet released a request-for-funding application under the Mental Health Services Act of 2004, a voter-approved law that allows the state Department of Mental Health to provide increased funding, personnel and other resources to support county mental-health programs.
