Teenage Wrist Release "A Different Shine" EP Produced By Failure's Ken Andrews, Announce February Tour (theprp.com) — Teenage Wrist will play The Wayfarer in Costa Mesa on Feb. 6 as part of a newly announced North American tour. Tickets go on sale Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. local time, following the release of the band’s three-song EP, “A Different Shine,” produced and mixed by Failure’s Ken Andrews.

Free Miniature Train Rides Return To OC With Holiday Toy Drive (patch.com) — Free miniature train rides return to Costa Mesa’s Fairview Park Nov. 21–22, with a holiday toy collection at Goathill Junction. Trains run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with no reservations required. Riders must be at least 31 inches tall, and visitors can donate new, unwrapped toys for local children.
   

3. El Moro Celebrates International Churro Day With $1 Churros (lamag.com) — El Moro's Costa Mesa shop at 2300 Harbor Boulevard will sell $1 churros on November 11 for International Churro Day. Customers who buy 11 will get a 12th free, part of a celebration spanning the Mexico City-born churrería's three Southern California locations.
   

4. High school girls' tennis: Southern Section playoff scores (latimes.com subscription) — Costa Mesa's girls' tennis team fell 10–8 to Nordhoff in Friday's Southern Section Division 8 playoffs. The narrow loss came ahead of the division's November 9 quarterfinals, with championship matches for Divisions 5–8 scheduled for November 13 at The Claremont Club.
   

5. After Democrats dominate midterms, California Republicans say it's too soon to assess what went wrong (ocregister.com) — GOP-endorsed Mike Buley led Costa Mesa’s mayoral race as of Friday, offering Orange County Republicans a potential local gain amid broader Democratic victories. With ballots still being counted, party leaders pointed to their work recruiting and training local candidates while cautioning that a full assessment of the midterms would have to wait.
