1. 2026 Election Results: Zermeno's lead in close Covina city clerk race holds (sgvtribune.com) — Covina’s city clerk race remains tight, with Susan Zermeno holding a narrow lead as mail-in and drop-box ballots continue to be counted by Los Angeles County. Officials expect most ballots to be processed by June 15, with final certification in July, so residents may see the margin shift as remaining votes are tallied.
   

2. 1 killed, 1 arrested after argument leads to shooting in Covina parking lot (pasadenastarnews.com) — A child custody exchange at the Home Depot parking lot on West Badillo Street in Covina turned deadly Tuesday evening when one man was fatally shot and another was arrested. Covina police say both men were armed, and they’re asking anyone who witnessed the argument or shooting to contact their Investigations Bureau.
   

3. Optum to cut 92 jobs in California - Becker's Payer Issues (beckerspayer.com) — Optum is cutting 92 jobs in California, mostly from closing a management office in Oxnard, but some positions will be lost at clinics including one in Covina. The Covina clinic will stay open to patients as Optum shifts staff and works to minimize disruptions to care and medication access.

San Gabriel Valley All-Area baseball team, player of the year (fresnobee.com) — Several Covina High baseball standouts earned spots on the 2026 San Gabriel Valley All-Area teams, highlighting local talent among the region’s best. Covina seniors Donovan Johnson and Lucas Thorpe, along with pitcher Isaac Flores, were recognized alongside players from neighboring schools after a standout season.
