Brothers Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Electronics From Schools

Two brothers were arrested on suspicion of stealing computers, electronics and other supplies from three Culver City schools.

CULVER CITY, CA — Two brothers were arrested for allegedly stealing computers, electronics and office supplies from three Culver City schools, authorities said Wednesday.

Four robberies took place since June, according to the Culver City Police Department.

Police obtained surveillance video showing the burglaries, and identified Johnathan and Josue Ortiz, both of Los Angeles, as suspects, police said.

The suspects were arrested Tuesday for suspicion of commercial robbery, according to police. A search warrant was conducted at their home Tuesday, and officers recovered laptops, tablets, musical equipment and office supplies belonging to the Culver City, Santa Monica-Malibu and Los Angeles unified school districts.

Police shared images of the recovered property. Investigators allege that the suspects used tools to pry open classroom doors.

The reported stolen items were returned to the schools, a spokesperson for the Culver City Unified School District told Patch.
