Centaurs No. 7 in CIF Football Poll

The CIF Southern Section office released its new football rankings, and moved up two positions, from No. 9 to No. 7 in the Western Division Top 10 poll after routing West Torrance 51-28 in its season opener last Friday.

Ocean League rivals Santa Monica and Beverly Hills are still on the "others under consideration" list, just outside of the Top 10. Santa Monica blanked Leuzinger 35-0 while Beverly Hills lost 27-6 at Santa Barbara last week.

West Hills Chaminade of the Mission League stayed atop the poll after its 41-21 victory over Venice while St. Paul and Arroyo Grande held at No. 2 and No. 3 after each won, but Dominguez dropped from fourth to eighth after being shut out 30-0 by Redlands East Valley. Serra moved up one spot from No. 5 to No. 4 after a 21-0 victory over Redondo Union. Santa Maria St. Joseph moved up one spot and St. Francis moved two spots, from No. 6 to No. 8, after edging Arcadia 31-28 in its opener. Atascadero dropped to No. 9 with a loss to Clovis and Ventura moved into the No. 10 spot with a 38-0 rout of Oak Park.

Harbor City Narbonne, which will travel to Culver City in Week 5, moved up from No. 5 to No. 4 in MaxPreps' Los Angeles City Section rankings after its 34-32 season-opening win over Palos Verdes.
