CicLAvia Kicks Off 2019 With Culver City Meets Mar Vista + Palms

The 6.5 mile "Culver City Meets Mar Vista + Palms" route primarily spanned Washington Boulevard.

CULVER CITY, CA – CicLAvia returned to the Culver City area Sunday for the third time with a route that was altered to include the unincorporated Palms community.

The 6.5 mile "Culver City Meets Mar Vista + Palms" route primarily spanned Washington Boulevard from the Culver City Arts District near La Cienega Boulevard to Centinela Avenue, and a shorter segment along Venice Boulevard between Centinela to Walgrove Avenue in Mar Vista.

As always, streets on and around the route were closed to vehicle traffic during the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. event while thousands of people on foot, skates or bikes took the opportunity to explore the communities, merchants and organizations along the route.

Art, music, food and family events will be located at designated hubs in downtown Culver City, the Arts District, Palms, Washington Boulevard West and Mar Vista with several merchants in the area are offering discounts and giveaways.

This was the first CicLAvia of 2019.

A kickoff ceremony was set for 8 a.m. at the corner of Main Street and Culver Boulevard in Culver City. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Culver City Mayor Thomas Aujero Small were among the dignitaries that participated.

CicLAvia events, sponsored by Metro, are designed to encourage people to spend quality time in their communities and promote increased use of alternative transportation options.
