Culver City To Celebrate 100% Green Power
The celebration will start at 4:30 p.m. in the City Hall courtyard.

From The City of Culver City: The City of Culver City cordially invites the community and local media to a Press Conference celebrating 100% Green Power in the Culver City community. The celebration and Press Conference will begin at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, February 11, in Culver City’s Dale Jones City Hall Courtyard (9770 Culver Boulevard).
“The cities that comprise the Clean Power Alliance are leading the charge to fight climate change, reduce pollution, protect the public’s health and preserve our planet for future generations,” said Culver City Mayor Thomas Small. “Culver City is leading by example by lowering its greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring a cleaner future and inspiring other cities to follow suit. I am thrilled to share this milestone with our community come February 11,” he added.
Culver City's City Council selected 100% Green Power for the community. The Council's decision made Culver City one of 10 cities to opt for the top tier of green energy offered by the Clean Power Alliance (CPA). CPA's membership totals at 31 jurisdictions within Los Angeles and Ventura counties. This February, CPA will begin selling competitive levels of renewable electricity to its 31 member cities and counties at lower rates than those of Southern California Edison (SCE). Though CPA will purchase the electricity on behalf of members, SCE will continue to provide transmission and distribution services, power line maintenance and customer metering and billing services.
CPA provides customers with options of cleaner, more renewable electricity at competitive rates. Culver City residential customers will have access to CPA’s electric service in February and non-residential customers in May. Existing SCE customers will receive four letters asking them to choose whether to remain with SCE or join one of the three renewable power “tiers” offered by CPA. Both CPA and Culver City encourage residents and non-residents to use CPA’s rate comparison calculator to determine the cost of each tier prior to making a decision. SCE customers will automatically be enrolled into the CPA and don’t need to take any action unless they want to change their default rate tier.

“Due to the high demand for renewable power from CPA customers and our member communities, CPA expects to meet the state’s bold renewable energy targets 11 years ahead of schedule, CPA Executive Director Ted Bardacke said. “Culver City’s choice to go with carbon-free 100% Green Power shows how local communities can lead the way in reducing carbon pollution” he added.
Joining CPA is just one of Culver City’s efforts to contribute to a healthier, more sustainable California.
