Domestic Violence Suspect Killed In Police Shooting

The suspect in a domestic violence incident in Culver City was shot by police on Sunday, authorities said.

CULVER CITY, CA — The suspect in a domestic violence incident in Culver City was shot by police on Sunday, authorities said.

On Dec. 18 at 12:16 a.m. Culver City Police Officers received a call reporting a domestic violence incident in the 3800 block of College Ave. where officers said a man was threatening his wife with a handgun.

When officers arrived the man fled in his vehicle, which led to a police pursuit. The suspect's vehicle was described in multiple media reports as a red Ford Explorer.

The vehicle chase ended when the vehicle crashed into a center median in the Culver Boulevard and Cardiff Avenue area, but the suspect continued to run police said.

"The suspect fled the vehicle on foot following the collision as CCPD officers gave chase," CCPD said in a statement.

According to police, an officer-involved shooting happened moments later, resulting in the suspect's —39-year-old Guillermo Medina of Culver City — death.

Sergeant Eddie Baskaron from CCPD said the shooting was being investigated by the California Department of Justice.
