Gunmen Beat And Rob Man Of His Rolex Outside Culver City Shop

CULVER CITY, CA — A man was beaten and robbed at gunpoint outside a Culver City shopping center Wednesday evening, and now police are asking for help identifying the gunmen.

Police believe the victim was targeted for his Rolex watch. It's the latest in a string of brazen robberies targeting people with expensive watches and jewelry across Los Angele County.

The robbery occurred around 5 p.m. Wednesday near a jewelry wholesaler in the 11400 block of Washington Boulevard, according to Culver City Police Department.

The victim told police he was confronted by two men as he was leaving his vehicle. He said one of the men pulled out a gun, stuck it in his chest and demanded his Rolex watch. The robber then pointed his gun at the victim's head and took the watch and a cell phone. Then he punched the victim in the head and the duo fled the scene on foot toward Washington Boulevard.

The watch was valued at around $13,000, according to police.

The suspects were described as two men in their early 20s. They both stood 5 feet, 8 inches tall. One weighed an estimated 210 pounds and the second one an estimated 180 pounds, police said.

Both suspects were wearing face masks, the victim said.

Earlier on the same day, a jeweler specializing in high-end watches awoke to find armed intruders in his Hollywood Hills Home. The gunmen tied up the jeweler's family and ransacked the house.

The day before, brazen smash-and-grab thieves terrorized a Beverly Hills jewelry store in broad daylight, using sledgehammers to smash down the windows and make off with estimated millions of dollars in loot.
