LAX Releases Info on People Mover, $5.5 Billion Modernization Plan

The public has 45 days to review and submit suggestions and opinions on the report, The report is available at the Culver City library.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A draft report on the potential effects of a $5.5 billion plan that includes building a people mover and rental car facility at Los Angeles International Airport was released to the public Thursday.

Members of the public have 45 days to review and submit suggestions and opinions on the report, which lays out findings from an environmental impact study of the LAX Landside Access Modernization Program.

The projects in the plan include a 2.25-mile automated people mover connecting LAX to nearby rail, a centralized rental car facility, transportation hubs and other upgrades aimed at easing traffic congestion in and around the airport.

Comments from the public will be incorporated into the final report that will be considered by airport and city leaders, and can be submitted at lawa.org or mailed to Evelyn Quintanilla, Chief of Airport Planning, Los Angeles World Airports, P.O. Box 92216, Los Angeles, CA 90009-2216.

  • Saturday, Oct. 15, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Senior Center at Westchester Recreation Center, 7000 W. Manchester Ave.; and
  • Wednesday, Oct. 19, 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., at the Flight Path Learning Center and Museum, 6661 W. Imperial Highway.

The draft environmental impact report is available online at http://www.connectinglax.com and physical copies can be viewed at several libraries near LAX, specifically:
