Man Severely Injured In Fire At Culver City Motel

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

CULVER CITY, CA – One man was severely burned Wednesday in an early morning fire at a Culver City motel that was heavily damaged by the blaze, a fire official said.

The fire at the Astro Motel at 3850 Sepulveda Blvd. was reported around 3 a.m., Culver City Fire Department Battalion Chief Rob Kohlhepp said.

The fire began in one unit and the man occupying that room suffered severe burns before he managed to flee the room to alert the motel staff, Kohlhepp said. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment, Kohlhepp said.

Eighteen firefighters were dispatched to the scene and knocked down the fire in about 20 minutes, he said. The cause of the fire was under investigation.
