Brush Fire Knocked Down Outside Cupertino

The fire was this morning on Stevens Creek Boulevard.

Firefighters extinguished a two-alarm vegetation fire in a field just outside of Cupertino this morning, a Santa Clara County fire spokeswoman said.

Crews responded to a report of a vegetation fire in the 24000 block of Stevens Creek Boulevard, fire spokeswoman Stephanie Stuehler said.

Firefighters arrived to find the workers from a nearby cement plant attempting to extinguish the blaze, Stuehler said. The fire was about 100 yards away from the cement plant, the spokeswoman said.

Crews found three spot fires, which burned less than an acre, that were under control around 11:15 a.m., she said. A Cal Fire helicopter flew over and dropped water on the blaze, according to Stuehler. A downed power line was found near the scene, but it is not clear whether it started the fire, she said.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
