Rocky Fire Growing: 15,000 Acres, 5% Containment On Friday A.M.

Cal Fire reports that the Rocky Fire in Lake County has consumed 15,000 acres as of this morning, and containment is at 5 percent.

CAL FIRE Sonoma-Lake-Napa is the administrative unit on the fire, and is receiving assistance from Kelseyville FPD, South Lake FPD, Northshore FPD, Lake County Sheriff, CHP, Lake Evacuation and Animal Protection (LEAP), Lake County Office of Emergency Services and North Bay Incident Management Team. Personnel at the scene total 988, according to the department.

Three structures and multiple outbuildings are destroyed or damaged.

Evacuation advisories were issued for The Double Eagle Ranch and homes along the Highway 20 corridor between New Long Valley Road and east to the county line. Evacuations are still in effect for the area north of Morgan Valley and East of Bonham Road, Jerusalem Grade Road, Spruce Grove Road (North end), Noble Ranch Road and Cantwell Ranch Road.

The evacuation center in Clear Lake has been closed. An evacuation center was opened at Middletown High School in Middletown and is better suited to handle the evacuees. The center is 20932 Big Canyon Road, Middletown.

An animal evacuation center is opened at the Lower Lake Social Services parking lot, 15975 Anderson Ranch Parkway, Lower Lake.

Cal Fire reported this morning that the fire in Lake County, known as Rocky Fire, has consumed 8,000 acres.

The fire was first reported Wednesday shortly after 4 p.m. at 150 acres, with smoke visible from Napa and Sonoma counties.

The fire has destroyed several outbuildings and is traveling at a rapid rate of speed, officials said.

Immediate evacuations are in place for residents in the area. An evacuation center is open at the Highland Senior Center, 3245 Bowers Road, Clearlake.

An animal evacuation center is open at the Lower Lake Social Services parking lot, 15975 Anderson Ranch Parkway, Lower Lake.

As the weeklong Wragg Fire of Napa and Solano counties nears 80 percent containment with 7,500 acres burned, now tonight in Lake County, another fire, dubbed #RockyFire, is at 1,000 acres. The blaze was first reported at 150 acres this afternoon at 4 p.m. in terrain described as heavy brush and timber.

Evacuations are in place for residents on the north side of Morgan Valley Road for five miles east of Bonham Road, Cal Fire said.

The fire is traveling a rapid rate of spread, officials said. Personnel total 171 at the scene, and additional resources have been ordered. Temperatures are approximately 100 degrees, Cal Fire said.
