California Cricket Academy To Represent U.S. In Americas Cup

Six players developed in Cupertino's CCA move on to represent International Cricket Academy's U15 group.

Six players from Cupertino’s home-grown bowled over other teams and players to represent the U.S. in the International Cricket Council’s U-15 Americas Cup.

“We’re so proud,” says Mahesh Nihalani, CCA advisory board member.

The players—Rutvij Bhise, Vibhav Altekar, Dave Parikh, Neil Tagare, Anirudha Srinivas, Mihir Athavale—are from Cupertino and San Jose, and trained in Cupertino’s CCA, which has a cricket pitch at the Cupertino Library field.

To date, the CCA developed more than 150 players in the game of cricket for competitive play in interleague and national tournaments.

Founded in 2003 by Hemant and Kinjal Buch, CCA focuses on building awareness of the sport and encourages youth to channel their energy into positive actions as opposed to negative ones.

“It teaches you a lot of discipline, a lot of patience, respect for the other players—and it all comes by way of playing the game,” Kinjal Buch said.
