County Coroner IDs Cyclist Killed By Hit-and-Run Driver On Fremont Avenue

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – A 67-year-old woman killed by a hit-and-run driver in Sunnyvale last month has been identified as Anne Winter of Santa Clara by the county medical examiner's office.

Winter was riding her bike on Fremont Avenue east of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road at about 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 24 when she was struck by a white four-door Acura TSX from 2009 or 2010, according to officials with
the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Winter was taken to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose, where she later died.

The driver, described by police as having dark hair tied up in a ponytail, sped away eastbound on Fremont Avenue, then southbound on Wolfe Road toward Cupertino.

The car likely had damage to the front bumper, hood and windshield, according to officers.
