FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK
CHINESE NEW YEAR'S FESTIVAL AND PARADE IN SAN FRANCISCO
Where/When: San Francisco, parade kicks off at Kearny and Jackson; Saturday, 5:15-8 p.m.
Why Go: Yes, it's a drive, but this is one of the occasions to enjoy your proximity to San Francisco. Highlights will include elaborate decorated floats, stilt walkers and the 250-foot-long Golden Dragon "Gum Lung." The San Francisco parade is the largest celebration of Asian culture outside of Asia. Make a day of it by going early and going to the community street fair. Details below.

CHINESE COMMUNITY STREET FAIR
Where/When: San Francisco Chinatown, Grant Avenue from Clay to Broadway, Pacific Avenue from Kearny to Stockton, Jackson Street from Kearny to Stockton; Saturday, 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Sunday, 9 a.m.- 5 p.m.
Why Go: If you go Saturday, you can make a day of it and see the parade. Or perhaps the street fair is enough for you. Either way, there is much to see and do. The fair will feature lantern and kite making, calligraphy, fine arts demonstrations, folk dance, puppet shows and more.
PIANO GAMES
Where/When: 10026 Orange Ave. (); Wednesday-Friday, 5-5:45 p.m.
Why Go: Learning to play the piano can be so much fun with games. RSVP by calling 408-899-9514 or e-mailing cc@piano-games.com. This free event supports Cupertino Union School District's Great Schools Week.

SATURDAY NIGHT STAR SHOW AT THE FUJITSU PLANETARIUM
Where/When: , 21250 Stevens Creek Blvd. (); Saturday, shows at 5, 6 and 7 p.m.
Why Go: What's not to like about going to the planetarium? There are three different shows appropriate for different ages: 5 p.m., "Zula Patrol," preschool to kindergarten; 6 p.m., "The Planets," third to fifth grades; 7 p.m., "Cosmic Journey: A Solar System Adventure," third grade to adult.

KID-FRIENDLY FEATURES AT THE MOVIES

Why Go: Sometimes it's just nice to treat your children to a movie. There's a couple of kid-friendly G- and PG-rated films showing this weekend, so check them out.
