Santa Clara Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, has donated thousands of homemade masks over the last month, to help slow the spread of COVID-19. As of 20 April, 2020, NSDAR members across the country have donated over 150,000 homemade masks to healthcare workers, military personnel, nursing home and hospice staff, restaurant workers, postal workers, grocery store employees and community members. Santa Clara Chapter member Mary Kay Davis, an award winning quilter, honors her grandmother, a nurse during the 1918 flu epidemic. Mrs. Davis created and donated 50 masks to the Bill Wilson Center and continues to sew and donate. Santa Clara Chapter members have donated over 1300 masks locally, supporting our Silicon Valley Community.

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism. Its members are descended from the patriots who won American independence during the Revolutionary War. With more than 185,000 members in approximately 3000 chapters worldwide, DAR is one of the world's largest and most active service organizations. DAR members are committed to volunteer service, having served more than 12.5 million hours in communities throughout the world during the past three years.
