Lawrence Expressway Reopens After Shooting

Police shut northbound lanes on a stretch of the freeway in Santa Clara during the investigation, officials said,

SANTA CLARA, CA – Lawrence Expressway in Santa Clara has reopened after a shooting prompted its closure early this morning, according to police.

Police shut down the expressway between Cabrillo Avenue and Monroe Street to investigate the shooting that occurred at about 12:30 a.m.

No injuries were reported in the shooting and no arrest has been made.

Police said all lanes of Lawrence Expressway reopened as of shortly after 7:50 a.m.

All lanes of the northbound Lawrence Expressway between Cabrillo Avenue and Monroe Street are currently closed as Santa Clara police investigate a shooting that involved motorists from early this morning, according to police.

The shooting occurred sometime after 12:30 a.m. today, according to Santa Clara police Capt. Wahid Kazem, who said as of 6:45 a.m., police weren't aware of any injuries stemming from the shooting, nor were any
suspects in custody.

Kazem said officers are working on at least getting one lane open for the morning commute.

No further information was immediately available.
