Authorities ID Body Found Off Sonoma County Coast

BREAKING: The 49-year-old's death is being investigated as a drowning.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office has identified a man who was found dead on a beach at Russian Gulch north of Jenner on Saturday afternoon as Timothy James Vivian, 49, of Petaluma. Vivian was homeless and his death is being investigated as a possible drowning, sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

Bystanders pulled Vivian's body to shore and called authorities around 12:45 p.m. Saturday, Crum said. He was wearing blue jeans, a black shirt and tennis shoes.

State Parks rangers, sheriff's deputies and the Monte Rio Fire Protection District responded to the discovery of the body.
