Sheriff's Deputies Hunt Down Cupertino Burglary Suspects After 6-Hour Search
Four burglary suspects were taken into custody by Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies in Cupertino Monday night.

CUPERTINO, CA - If you heard a helicopter buzzing overhead and saw a heavy police presence in southeast Cupertino last night, it's because authorities were looking for -- and eventually caught -- four burglary suspects.

Santa Clara County Sheriff's deputies issued a shelter in place order for the areas between Farallone Drive and Patric Court and between Wunderlich Drive and Hanna Drive during the search, which ended just before 10 pm after a massive search.
Two suspects were apprehended around 3:45 pm, but it took another six hours before the other two could be located. A large perimeter was set up, with officers going from home to home in attempt to track the suspects down.

After the last two suspects were taken into custody by K-9 units at Forest Ridge and Forest View drives, the Sheriff's Office tweeted the news, thanking residents and lifting the shelter-in-place order.

The chase began after multiple reports of residential burglaries came in to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office just after 3:30 pm. Residents reported seeing burglars -- including one who was suspected to be armed -- fleeing the scene.

A loaded gun was later recovered in a stolen car, according to a captain with the Sheriff's office.
