Sunnyvale Man Stalked Co-Worker, Ran Meth Lab: Cops

BREAKING: When Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers went to arrest him on suspicion of stalking, they allegedly found a meth lab.

SANTA CLARA VALLEY, CA — A Sunnyvale man was arrested last week on suspicion of stalking — and manufacturing and possessing methamphetamine — after a female co-worker of his reported his alleged behavior to the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety, a captain with the department said. The woman made the report against Christopher Todd Oicles, 49, on Nov. 22, telling officers at Sunnyvale DPS headquarters that Oicles had been stalking her and was becoming more aggressive with his behavior, Capt. Shawn Ahearn said in a news release.

"A pretext phone call was made between the victim and Oicles," Ahearn said. "He admitted to his behavior and wanting to be with her."

A meeting was then arranged between the woman and Oicles, during which officers arrested Oicles without incident.

At the time of his arrest, officers conducted a consensual search of Oicles' residence in the 1200 block of N. Fair Oaks Avenue and located "several firearms and tactical gear," Ahearn said.

Oicles was booked into a Santa Clara County jail on suspicion of stalking, attempted kidnapping for rape, possession of an automatic weapon, two counts of possession of an assault weapon, and manufacturing and possession of methamphetamine.

Sunnyvale DPS served a search warrant Nov. 25 at Oicles' residence, where they had allegedly seen a meth lab during the previous consensual search.

"The lab was not in operation at the time, so there was no immediate danger to the public," Ahearn said. "The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety Hazardous Materials Team removed several containers of household hazardous materials used in the manufacturing; 1.2 grams of finished product was also located."
