Nearly 200 Wake Without Power Monday In Tri-Valley

The households were still in the dark Monday morning after heavy winds made 65,000 across the Bay Area lose power over the weekend.

ALAMO, CA — About 160 buildings near the Danville and Alamo areas were without power Monday morning after heavy winds caused 65,000 across the Bay Area to lose power.

Alamo Oaks saw the highest concentration of people without power, with some 150 buildings without power, the Pacific Gas & Electric Company reported. A few households near Danville were in the dark too.

More than 20 customers around Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore were also without power.

On Sunday more than 5,000 in both Livermore and Dublin lost power, while several hundred in Pleasanton were in the dark. High winds caused a tree to topple into a Livermore apartment building, nearly crushing a sleeping resident inside, fire officials say.

About 28,000 Bay Area customers were still without power as of 10 p.m. Sunday and 8,4000 remained without power as of early Monday morning, including 5,660 in the East Bay, 2,100 in the South Bay, 445 in the Peninsula and 246 in the North Bay.

The worst of the winds appears to have passed for most of the Tri-Valley. The National Weather Service had initially issued a high wind watch for higher elevations in the East Bay hills through Tuesday morning, but cancelled it.

The North Bay mountains remain under a high wind watch.
