Tree Crashes Into Apartment, Nearly Crushing Sleeping Resident
Local fire crews responded to 87 calls Sunday and the county received more than 1,000 911 calls during heavy winds Sunday.

TRI-VALLEY, CA — The Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department handled 87 emergency calls for service amid heavy winds Sunday, including one call of a tree that fell into an apartment complex, almost crushing a sleeping man, said Battalion Chief Kurtis Dickey. Alameda County dispatchers received more than 1,000 calls from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
There were no injuries reported during the high winds, but several cars were damaged, he said. Calls for service began to slow down around 4 p.m.
The heavy winds also caused thousands across the Bay Area to lose power. More than 100 in the Tri-Valley were still without power Monday morning, with the most outages reported in Alamo Oaks, according to the Pacific Gas & Electric Company.
