Danville Woman Killed In Fiery Crash ID'd

The body of Cassidie Abello, 20, of Danville was found in the burned wreckage of an Orinda crash.

DANVILLE, CA — The California Highway Patrol has not yet completed its investigation into a deadly crash that happened on Highway 24 in Orinda on Aug. 1, a CHP spokeswoman told Patch on Monday, but what is known is that Cassidie Abello, 20, of Danville, was the person found dead in the wreck.

The fiery solo-vehicle crash occurred around 9 p.m. after Abello's Honda Civic smashed into a tree on the westbound side of the road. When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the car fully engulfed in flames. Once the fire was put out, Abello's body was discovered inside the vehicle, the CHP said.

Abello's cause of death is still pending, according to the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff Coroner's Division.

A Go Fund Me account was set up for Abello's family. It has a modest goal of just $3,000, but has raised close to $10,000. People commenting on the site remember the young woman as a soccer player and "a beautiful soul."
