Documentary - "American Jerusalem: Jews and the Making of San Francisco"

Film Screening and Discussion with Executive Producer Jackie Krentzman on November 8, 2014 @ 7:00 pm

Join Beth Chaim Congregation on November 8, 2014 @ 7:00 pm, to view this widely acclaimed PBS documentary, and meet executive producer Jackie Krentzman. In 2010, Jackie wrote the 160th-anniversary book for the San Francisco Jewish Family and Children’s Services, detailing the storied history of the oldest nonprofit west of the Mississippi. This project was the catalyst for American Jerusalem.

American Jerusalem: Jews and the Making of San Francisco, is the story of the pioneering Jews of San Francisco, their rise to prominence, and their reinventing themselves as a distinctly new kind of Jew: They weren’t just American Jews — they were San Francisco Jews. This acclaimed documentary unveils the largely unknown history of this singular community, as well as its place in the fabric of not only California, but of America.
