He came into the library because he knew—he just knew—it would be fun. There would be more books than he’d ever seen before. It would be colorful and happy and filled with other kids his age.And he was right. He went right over to one of the computers and started playing. He unscrambled puzzles, he connected dots, he matched pictures of baby animals, he learned.Then he heard a librarian starting to read out loud and he scampered to find a place on the floor with all the other giggling children.

Everything he did in that one brief morning was supported by the Friends of the Danville Library.With monies from book sales and annual membership dues, the Friends support scores of children’s and teen programs—they have even installed carpeting in the kids’ section and upholstered benches and chairs in the Teen Zone. They have helped expand the e-book and e-audiobook collections, and added new fiction and nonfiction books for every age group.And it’s all because of patrons like you.

So, how can you support the Danville Library?

·Shop at the Friends’ Bookstore. It’s open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday. You just can’t beat the prices you’ll find on almost every kind of book.

·Come to the monthly book sales. The next sale is Saturday, May 30th, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Danville Library. Don’t miss out on great book and puzzle bargains!

·Donate your new or gently used books. All donated books find homes—and what is not sold gets donated to charities.

·Become a Friend of the Library! Come to the Friends Bookstore and fill out a member form—or you can join online at www.friendsofthedanvillelibrary.org.
