The Danville Library will host a “Flannel & Foliage Reading Challenge” on Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. All you have to do is bring a book, head to the library’s periodicals room or children’s room, and start reading! Every minute you spend with your nose in a book counts toward our community total. The library’s goal is 1,000 minutes! Open to all ages, readers can choose a fun prize for their efforts (while supplies last).
Sponsored by the Friends of the Danville Library, the Reading Challenge is part of the Flannel & Foliage Event, an autumn festival to be held in downtown from October 23 to 25. Inspired by a popular 2000s TV series, there will be meet-and-greets with cast members, live music, fall markets, scavenger hunts, and many other free-and-fun seasonal activities.
Need a few books to take on this challenge? There will be books available in the library and its Friends Bookstore, all selected from the TV series’ famous book list. Plus, at the Friends Pop-Up Book Sale on Saturday the 24th, there will be a table of books from that very special list available for sale. The Pop-Up runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. that day. Don’t miss out—grab a book and head to the challenge!
