TONIGHT: Candlelight Vigil Planned In Memory Of Ben Curry
The teen drowned in the San Ramon Valley High School pool a year ago. His family says they plan on keeping his memory alive.

DANVILLE, CA — The community is invited to pay homage to the life of a Danville teenager who died in May of 2018. Benjamin Curry was 15-years-old when he accidentally drowned in the San Ramon Valley High School pool a year ago.
On May 8, his parents, Karen and Tom, will host a candlelight vigil in front of the Danville Library in honor of his life. The vigil will start at 7:30 p.m. The Danville Library is located at 400 Front Street.
Ben was pulled from the water around 1:40 p.m. on May 8, 2018. School staff, law enforcement and fire officials attempted lifesaving measures and Ben was rushed to Kaiser Walnut Creek where he was pronounced dead, according to the Contra Costa County Coroner's Office. Police said Ben was participating in his regular physical education swimming class before the drowning.

The day after his death, a memorial at the school continued to grow and a candlelight vigil was held in his honor at the school's football field. A celebration of life was held for Ben at the Community Presbyterian Church Sanctuary in Danville on May 24.
