Danville Police Arrest Man on Suspicion of Armed Robbery After Drug Deal Goes Bad
Police say the man, 20, was arrested after a drug purchase ended in robbery at gunpoint.

A 20-year-old Brentwood man is facing charges after he allegedly held up a Danville teen at gunpoint. Danville Police Chief Steve Simpkins said the incident occurred on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the intersection of Old Orchard Road and Tweed Drive in Danville.
Police were called to the scene at 7:15 p.m. by the 17 year-old victim. The victim told police they met with the suspect as part of a marijuana sale. Instead, the suspect pointed a gun at the victim and stole the marijuana, a cell phone and cash before fleeing.
The investigation led police to San Ramon. San Ramon Police officers located the suspect’s vehicle and some of the stolen items were found in plain view. A K9 unit from the Contra Costa Sheriff’s Office was able to track down the victim’s stolen phone nearby.

Chief Simpkins said he was very pleased with the quick-thinking of the officers involved and the cooperation between the agencies.
“We have an excellent public safety team here in the San Ramon Valley,” he said. “And chances are, if you come here to commit crimes you will be caught.”
Jones is currently being held at the West County Detention Facility without bail. The juvenile was cited and released. For more information, contact Det. Jill Schwinn at (925) 314-3700 or jschwinn@danville.ca.gov.
