Danville Preschoolers Designated As Honorary ‘Deputies’
The preschoolers at Community Presbyterian Preschool were also given a very special assignment meant to help them in case of an emergency.
DANVILLE, CA — A group of about 60 Danville preschoolers recently got a visit from some very special guests. On March 2, several first responders from the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office and the Danville Police Department visited students at the Community Presbyterian Preschool in Danville. During the memorable morning, all of the students were designated as honorary deputies.
"Our students especially enjoyed learning and seeing first hand all the tools a police officer carries in his or her belt and sitting in their new SUV," says Jennifer Rusinko, Director of CPP.
School officials said the police officers also gave the students a special homework assignment. Each child had to know their full name, home address and phone number in case of an emergency.

"I’m so thankful to be a part of a community that sets time aside for our youngest learners to encourage their knowledge base and build relationships with our local heroes," adds Rusinko.

Earlier in the week, Danville Police Department Lieutenant Doug Muse stopped in for a visit with San Ramon Valley Christian Academy and Community Presbyterian Church leadership teams.
