Danville School Makes AP Honor Roll Gold List

DANVILLE, CA —San Ramon Valley High School was named to the AP School Honor Roll, a new designation given to schools that show a commitment to maximizing college readiness.

San Ramon Valley High School and Dougherty Valley High School were two of 4,570 schools around the country that made the honor roll. SRVHS received a Silver with Access designation, meaning it has demonstrated a “clear and effective commitment to equitable access to advanced coursework.” Dougherty Valley received a Gold designation.

“Receiving this Silver with Access distinction truly exemplifies the SRVHS commitment to excellence and equity,” SRVHS Principal Whitney Cottrell said in a statement. “I applaud the perseverance of our students and the tireless work of our staff to provide opportunities for students to deepen their learning and access the classes that most interest them. Way to go, Wolves!”

“Congratulations to Dougherty Valley and San Ramon Valley High Schools for receiving the AP Honor Roll recognition," said SRVUSD Superintendent John Malloy. “AP courses give our students an opportunity to engage more deeply in subject areas of interest to them with the potential of earning college credit. This recognition validates our students’ ability to excel academically and San Ramon Valley High's ability to expand access of AP classes for underrepresented and or/ low-income students. Both outcomes directly align with our Strategic Directions and I am grateful for the hard work and collaborative efforts of our AP teachers, staff, and administrators.”

• Foothill High School (gold)
• Quarry Lane School (platinum)
• Dublin High School (silver)

The award was created in October 2023 to recognize schools that “reflect a commitment to increasing college-going culture, providing opportunities for students to earn college credit, and maximizing college readiness.”

To be recognized, schools needed to fulfill the following metrics:

• 40% or more of the graduating cohort took at least one AP exam during high school
• 25% or more of the graduating cohort scored a 3 or higher on at least one AP exam
• 2% or more of the graduating cohort took five or more AP exams during high school, at least one of which was taken in 9th or 10th grade.
