Driver Who Died On Stone Valley Road Identified

BREAKING: Coroner's officials are still trying to narrow down the exact cause of death.

DANVILLE, CA — A driver who died on Stone Valley Road in Danville on July 18 has been identified. A Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office spokesman said Danville resident Anthony Coelho, 69, likely died of natural causes and not as a result of crashing his car into a power pole in the area of Stone Valley Road and Monte Sereno Drive. Coroner’s officials are still trying to narrow down the exact cause of death.

Coelho’s car crashed into the utility pole, knocking out power to about 120 customers and closing Stone Valley Road near Monte Vista High School for hours late Tuesday morning. No other vehicles were involved. The road reopened Wednesday morning just before 5:30 a.m.

Danville Police Chief Allan Shields says the cause of the collision is still under investigation.
