Ex-Danville Mayor Takes Helm Of CoCo Board Of Supervisors
Supervisor Candace Andersen was sworn in as Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors Chair on Tuesday.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Contra Costa County Supervisor Candace Andersen was sworn in Tuesday as chair of the Board of Supervisors. Andersen, the former Mayor of Danville, is a second-term supervisor serving District 2, which stretches from Orinda and Lafayette to San Ramon.
Her vice chair is Supervisor Diane Burgis, who serves District 3 and the communities of Antioch, Oakley and Brentwood and much of the county's unincorporated areas.
Andersen said in a press release that she hopes to "strengthen the County’s commitment to supporting our law enforcement to keep our communities safe, expand our work addressing homelessness and the need for more housing, and do even more to help individuals, families and communities confronting mental health issues."

She replaces Supervisor John Gioia of District 1, which covers communities from Pinole to Richmond.
Andersen's career in public service began when she came onboard two Morgan Hill City Commissions in 1991, then sat on the Danville Town Council in 2003. She served as Mayor twice and was elected to the Board of Supervisors in 2012.

Andersen is a licensed attorney from Honolulu, where she started out her legal career as a prosecutor.
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors is responsible for overseeing the county government and managing its $4.4 billion budget, according to the press release.
