Danville Candidate Filing Deadline Extended

DANVILLE, CA — The deadline for non-incumbent candidates to file nomination papers to run for a seat on the Danville Town Council has been extended to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, the town announced.

Under state election law, the filing deadline is extended when an eligible incumbent does not file for re-election. As of Aug. 7, three candidates have filed to run: incumbent Vice Mayor Robert Storer, Denton Carlson (the retired San Ramon Police Department chief), and Pratima Sonavne. Incumbent Councilmember Karen Stepper announced in April that she would not seek re-election.

Candidates must live within town limits and be registered to vote in Danville. There is no filing fee. Candidates must submit nomination papers containing signatures from registered Danville voters, along with required election forms.
