Suspects Sought In High-Speed Police Chase Across Tri-Valley
The chase started around 6:30 a.m. as officers from the Danville Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a stolen vehicle.
DANVILLE, CA — A high-speed police chase that began in Danville during Wednesday morning's rush-hour commute is still under investigation and, at press time, no suspects are in custody, according to the California Highway Patrol. The chase started around 6:30 a.m. as officers from the Danville Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on two suspects in a stolen dark green Mazda Miata. Officers were tipped after receiving an alert from Danville's "Town-Wide Automated License Plate Reader" system that a stolen car had entered town from Crow Canyon Road at Tassajara Ranch Road, according to Danville Police Chief Allan Shields.
The suspect vehicle fled "at a high rate of speed" on Crow Canyon toward I-680, and continued south to eastbound I-580, toward Tracy, Shields said. "CHP-Dublin took over the pursuit in Livermore," Shields added.
The chase continued onto I-580 east into Tracy, where the suspects made their way onto Mountain House Parkway, driving at high speed onto sidewalks, Dublin CHP Officer Tyler Hahn said. "They were driving recklessly," he explained, and said that for public safety reasons CHP officers pulled back their chase efforts.

CHP crews overhead picked up the suspect vehicle a short time later and the duo was chased on westbound I-580 into Livermore. But once again, reckless driving by the suspects forced the CHP to call off the effort for public safety reasons.
At press time, the suspects—who Hahn described as an adult black male driver and an adult black female passenger—remain at large, according to Hahn. There were no collisions or injuries as a result of the pursuit, and the stolen Miata—which was initially reported stolen out of Oakland on June 1—was eventually found abandoned in Dublin, Shields said.
