DANVILLE, CA — It only took a few hours to sell out tickets to an upcoming Danville visit by Hillary Rodham Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea.

At $45 a ticket, Danville's Rakestraw Books is hosting the women Oct. 20 at San Ramon Valley High School’s gymnasium for a 5 p.m. “conversation.” The event coincides with the release of “The Book of Gutsy Women,” by Clinton and her daughter. It's their first book together, and it's set to be published Oct. 1 by Simon and Schuster.

The book's subtitle is "Favorite Stories of Courage and Resilience," and it features more than 100 stories of women who have inspired the mother-daughter team.

“Each of these women has fought and won the kinds of victories that pave the way for progress for all of us. To us, they are all gutsy women — leaders with the courage to stand up to the status quo, ask hard questions, and get the job done," the former Secretary of State said. "This book is a continuation of a conversation Chelsea and I have been having since she was a little girl, and we are excited to welcome others into that conversation.”

“The gutsy women in this book share a fierce optimism that their work and lives will make a difference in the world. And, they’re right,” said Chelsea Clinton. “We hope readers will draw strength from their stories as we have, because if history shows one thing, it’s that the world needs more gutsy women.”
