Masked Car Burglary Suspects Caught On Camera In Danville
The thefts are the latest in a rash of car burglaries plaguing the East Bay area.
DANVILLE, CA — Residents in Danville are sharing video surveillance footage of people suspected of burglarizing several parked cars during the early morning hours on January 8. The videos, which have been posted to YouTube and are embedded above and below, show at least two suspects wearing masks, hats and backpacks walking around the properties just after 12:30 a.m.
The victim said cars parked on Camino Tassajara, Johnston, Highland and Finley roads were all targeted. The suspects took cash and credit cards. Several victims reported the thefts to the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office the next day and hope sharing the videos will help identify and capture the suspects. Some residents are taking matters into their own hands, patrolling the neighborhood at night.
The alleged thefts are the latest in a rash of car burglaries plaguing the East Bay area. Officers in San Ramon took ten car burglary reports in one day last week. The communities of Danville, Alamo and Blackhawk also experienced a rash of car burglaries and thefts in December. Pleasanton reported an uptick during the holiday season. On Jan. 18, Livermore police arrested three San Francisco residents on suspicion of car burglary. Coincidentally, Livermore officers were conducting an operation targeting car burglars when they spotted the suspects. Officers tried to stop the suspects who hit one of the officers as they fled the area.
