Paralyzed Teen from Danville Serves as Honorary College Football Captain
Jake Javier was to attend Cal Poly this fall but has instead spent countless hours rehabilitating since his devastating injury.
DANVILLE, CA — A former San Ramon Valley High School football player paralyzed from the chest down after he fell into a pool, injuring himself at a graduation party the day before he was to graduate took to the football field as an honorary captain at Cal Poly’s last game of the season.
Jake Javier was to attend Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo this fall but has instead spent countless hours rehabilitating since his devastating injury. According to the San Luis Obispo Tribune, the team players have worn green and black “Javier Strong ” bracelets this season in honor of Jake.
Following his injury, the Danville community rallied to help raise funds for Jake’s family through dinner, basketball and gala fundraisers. Jake's classmate, Paige Badstubner, made bracelets and sold them at Snickerdoodles on Hartz Ave. in Danville. Jake was moved recently moved to a rehabilitation facility in Colorado.
